Cardiff City FC: The Brand

Working Word shared its branding skills in the on-going debate over plans by Cardiff City FC to change their club colours and badge.


Concerned that the move did not make sense in brand strategy terms, WW staffers also felt designs for a new badge were not worthy of the club.

Enter Working Word’s ace designer Tim Haughton who came up with his own alternative design – and it was a badge that proved popular with other fans, voting it top in an online poll run by the Echo.

Commenting on his poll success Tim Haughton said: “The club badge is an emotionally-charged piece of design – hopefully the club, like any good brand, should listen to its fans.”

In the meantime Tim is helping Working Word clients score in their own market sectors with award-winning design and brand development work.
