Cardiff Waterside employees boost business through lunchtime yoga

The hour-long sessions have been offered to Cardiff Waterside workers to combat stress and boost productivity levels.

Taking a reasonable lunch break can help workers rest and recuperate, reduce stress, boost positive emotion and increase productivity in the afternoon.

Working Time Regulations puts the duty on employers to ensure that workers are taking a restful period over lunch which includes taking their statutory breaks.

Cardiff Waterside tenants including M&A Solicitors and Lloyds Banking Group are encouraging staff to engage in initiatives such as this in order to promote well-being and happiness.

Over 30 yoga-lovers are participating in the weekly initiative and are reaping the benefits as a result of taking part.

Eileen Hollowell, M&A Solicitors stated: “I love these classes as I always come out feeling so relaxed and calm. It’s a great opportunity to keep fit and a great way of meeting new people from around Cardiff Waterside which is really enjoyable.”

Instructor Claire Wheeler said: “Yoga improves posture meaning it’s a particularly good form of exercise for office workers who are otherwise sat at their desks all day long.”

Laura Clements, Tenant Liaison and Marketing Manager, Cardiff Waterside said: “The Bay is a beautiful environment in which to work. While long hour cultures dominate many industries, especially in tough economic times, employers who recognise workers perform better when refreshed and can benefit from increased productivity on their return.

“The scheme also promotes the bringing of people together that anchors a greater sense of community within our offices.”
