St David’s Day run to help Cancer Charity

A Welsh cancer charity is urging runners in Cardiff to celebrate St David’s Day with a difference this year  by entering the St David’s Day run in aid of Cancer Research Wales.

The run, organised by British Military Fitness, will take place on Sunday 6 March in Bute Park, Cardiff. It is open to both serious and fun runners, families and corporate teams with1k, 5k and 10k options available.

British Military Fitness, has expert knowledge in delivering successful fitness provision and this will be the eighth year it has organised the run.

Money raised from the run will go to Cancer Research Wales. Based at Velindre Hospital in Whitchurch, the charity guarantees all money raised in Wales is spent funding pioneering cancer research projects in Wales.

Head of operations at British Military Fitness, Nathan Gibbons, said: “The St David’s Day run has proved to be a great success in the past, it’s a great way to celebrate all things Welsh and do something good for charity.

“We offer different length races across flat ground so there is something for the whole family and we often have people in fancy dress, it’s all about getting involved, having fun and raising money within the beautiful surroundings of Bute Park.”

Liz Andrews, charity director at Cancer Research Wales added:  “We are thrilled to be the nominated charity for the St David’s Day Run, participants will be supporting Welsh cancer research projects that will make a real difference to those affected by cancer not only in our local communities but internationally. This is a very special event for Cancer Research Wales.”

Anyone entering the race will be eligible for free training sessions with the qualified British Military Fitness instructors as way of getting race ready for the big day. British Military Fitness has expert knowledge in delivering successful fitness provision and this will be the eighth year it has organised the run. The instructors will be on hand on the day to make sure all runners are fully warmed up before setting off on the run.

There are still places available for the St David’s Day run, anyone interested in taking part should register  at www.bmftraining.com or call 02920 490 837 for more information.
