skillscymru attracts key exhibitors, sponsors and visitors
Over thirty exhibitors, four sponsors and almost 9,000 visitors have already signed-up for skillscymru, which is expected to be Wales’ largest ever skills and careers event.
Just two months after the event’s official launch by the First Minister Carwyn Jones – skillscymru is on track to achieve its target of attracting 100 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors.

skillscymru, is part of a major push by the Welsh Assembly Government with European Social Funding (ESF), to aid the country’s recovery from the economic downturn by preparing the population for a new higher-skilled era.
Held at the Millennium Stadium from September 16-18, the free event is targeting skill-seekers from 14-years-old up to those in their 60s and will inform them about existing and emerging career opportunities in Wales.
Visitors to the exhibition, which is being supported by the Western Mail and Media Wales, will be able to take part in a wide range of interactive demonstrations and master classesin various disciplines including engineering, construction, retail, hospitality, cookery, sport and fitness.
The four confirmed sponsors are Learndirect, OCR, City & Guilds, and WJEC CBAC. Over 50 school groups have booked a place at the event guaranteeing the attendance of almost 9,000 students and teachers.Some of the exhibitors include:

Andrew Coates, director of Prospects Events, which is organising the event on behalf of the Assembly Government, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response from potential exhibitors, sponsors and visitors.
“We’ve got some great organisations on board but we’re still looking for others to take part. I’d urge employers and organisations throughout Wales to contacts us to find out about the various options and benefits on offer to them.
“skillscymru will highlight that people’s willingness to pursue new careers and gain new skills will be crucial in helping them through the challenging economic climate. The event will help people to do something positive to boost their confidence and employment prospects in 2010 and beyond,” he added.
