Agency’s Gold Award Success for Assembly Government and Private Sector campaigns
Working Word Public Relations is celebrating after scooping four prestigious industry awards for campaigns delivered on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government and Britain's top health and safety risk management business, Connaught Compliance.
The agency took three Golds and one silver award in the annual CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Cymru/Wales PRide Awards scheme, which recognises success and excellence in public relations.
In a special gala presentation evening held at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Cardiff on Friday 16 October, Working Word won two gold awards for the Climate Change Champions campaign delivered in conjunction with the Assembly Government's communications team.
The work, which took Gold in the ‘Best Public Sector' and ‘Best Use of Social Media' categories, was part of the Assembly Government's drive to highlight the threat from climate change and to focus attention on Wales' contribution to reducing carbon emissions.
The campaign, which won the public sector award, promoted the work of six young people who were appointed by the Assembly Government as climate ambassadors to raise awareness in their communities of the small actions people can take daily to reduce environmental impact.
The PR programme also took the ‘social media' Gold for an online campaign around the recording and viral release of a pop single designed to get the Climate Change Champions' message across to young people.
Working Word also won Gold for the best ‘Corporate and Business Communications' campaign, which was delivered UK-wide on behalf of Connaught Compliance, Britain's largest provider of consultancy, servicing and training to help businesses manage health and safety risks and comply with legal obligations.
Responseline News, Connaught's regular publication designed to update businesses on risk issues and legislation, took the Silver Award for Working Word in the ‘Best Newspaper or Magazine' category.
Working Word managing director, Eoghan Mortell, paid tribute to the PR team and the clients involved in the award winning programmes.
"A CIPR PRide Award is a hallmark of professionalism that marks out the best performers in this industry. We are delighted to be working closely with the public sector and top private sector clients to deliver high-impact campaigns that communicate their messages effectively to a wide variety of audiences," he said.
Formed in May 1999, Working Word PR has grown, over the past decade, to become one of the largest dedicated PR teams in Wales.
The team has won many awards for its work over several years and, in 2008, was named Outstanding PR Consultancy of the Year in the CIPR Cymru Wales PRide Awards.
