Women in Management Speaker Urges Innovation Is Vital To Business Growth

Welsh women's business network Women in Management will be kicking off their Autumn season on Thursday 24th September with a rousing talk on business innovation and the introduction of their new Chair, Chwarae Teg Chief Executive, Katy Chamberlain.

The evening event, which will take place at the University of Wales Newport Caerleon Campus, will see Amanda West of Thomson Reuters explain why people, plus leadership and knowledge are just as important as products for businesses and what innovation means at Thomson Reuters, the world's leading intelligent business information source. Amanda, who is Chief Innovation Officer at Thomson Reuters, liaises closely with companies to help foster innovation and growth.

Amanda will also go on to explain how Thomson Reuters fosters a culture of customer-focussed innovation using their globally networked teams to explore new markets, embracing change and driving growth.

Following Amanda's talk, new Chair Katy Chamberlain will facilitate a question and answer session and round table discussion, which will also be available through the medium of Welsh.

Speaking about the forthcoming session Katy said: "I am thrilled about my new position as Chair of the Women in Management network.

"The South Wales Women in Management network was set up last year by Sian Rees, now Head of Engineering and Professional Studies at Newport Business School. Thanks to the efforts of Sian and her committee it has attracted some of South Wales' most accomplished female executives as guest speakers. It is a real privilege to have been asked to take on this role in driving forward the network.

"Amanda's talk is extremely timely, and we are honoured to have a speaker from such a high profile business organisation sharing her experience with our network. We are putting plans in place for many other high-profile speakers to visit our network in the coming year and share their expertise with our group of senior business women from across Wales."

Outgoing Chair, Sian Rees, said "I know the network will go from strength to strength with Katy as Chair and I look forward to continuing to support the network as it develops."
Tickets for the event are priced at £23 including VAT. The event starts at 6pm. To register please contact Trish Chalk at trish.chalk@chwaraeteg.com or on 02920 478900.
