In 2007 Axiom decided to penetrate new markets such as medical devices and aerospace industries. The company was also keen to build on its strong reputation within the wider electronics industry and make itself the employer of choice in the South East Wales region.
Working Word PR devised a three-pronged campaign covering sectoral, sub-sectoral and regional media. By linking Axiom to feature articles on key sectoral and wider industry issues the PR team generated a regular flow of high quality editorial coverage that built Axiom's reputation as a expert in the field of contract manufacturing and a high quality employer.
The team also prepared and circulated a factsheet introducing the company to journalists in ‘new' market sectors. This was followed-up by direct briefings for these journalists and the building of strong working relationships with them. These journalists now contact the PR team regularly for expert comment on industry issues.
Key journalists have also been invited to visit Axiom's manufacturing plant in South Wales for fact-finding tours. This has resulted in large published interviews with the managing director and key company personnel.
Axiom also features regularly in the regional and local media, based on its role as a key Welsh-based business and its involvement in community (including education-industry) initiatives. It is regularly cited as a commentator on manufacturing in the region and as a role model of good practice in community relations.
